VINCENTIAN NUGGETS !!!
_TEN MARKS OF A GOOD VINCENTIAN !!!
To be a good Vincentian means that one strives to be a contributing member of the local conference and makes every attempt to faithfully live according to the Statutes and Spirituality that it presents. The following are the marks of a good Vincentian:
- Attend the weekly conference meetings and willingly encourages others to do so.
- Serves willingly in positions of leadership in the society without seeking honours.
- Is conscientious about fulfilling his duties as described in the internal Statutes.
- Listens respectfully and follows joyfully those who have been elected to positions of authority.
- Seeks out the poor with another Vincentian going to their homes and other places where they strive to listen compassionately and help. Prays before his visit.
- Reads the Statutes frequently and lives out the statute as fully as possible as his personal way of salvation. Renews his promise of service to the poor annually.
- Attends ongoing educational seminars and festival celebrations that the Society and the Vincentian family provide. Meditates frequently upon his Vincentian experience to grow in personal knowledge, love and service of God.
- Grows in Christian virtue especially in simplicity, humility, gentleness, selflessness and zeal.
- Gives during secret collection in the manner that it is prudent.
- Invites others to join the Society in his own Parish and encourages the formation of Conferences in other Parishes.
- Seeks to grow in holiness by recognizing Christ in the person of the poor.
